New Year Themes

At the beginning of 2016 I wrote down my New Year resolutions and had a very positive outlook on these goals. By March, however, I noticed there were a few of my goals that I wasn't going to reach. So this year I decided I would create themes to follow that would be more like guides to living a more fulfilling life.

An example would be how at the beginning of this year I said I wanted to read 18 books which was a resolution I did not reach. But I shouldn't feel like I failed when in reality I read a lot more this year than I have in the past few years. For 2017 one of my themes will be to read more often than I watch Netflix. It's a good way to encourage myself to close my computer and get lost in a book instead of staring at a screen and I won't feel discouraged by not reaching a finite number.

I know that one of the main rules of resolutions is to set specific goals so you can reach them but I'm deciding to go with this new route for 2017. I'm going to try and make my life happier and more fulfilling in multiple areas that I can slowly form into new habits that will last past 2017.

So, if this is something you're interested in doing I'd love to hear what type of themes you want to follow for 2017!

Here are my 2017 Themes:

• Read more often than I watch Netflix

• Become more of a tourist in my own state - discover what Minnesota has to offer

• Take and print more photographs

• Work on crafts that I'm passionate about

• Make working out FUN so I look forward to it

• Try new recipes and share my favorites

• Become more invested in my blog

• Learn how to use my DSLR camera

• Spend my money on more experiences and less material objects

• Work on having a capsule wardrobe

• Practice more self-love
