It's day 3 of my "12 Days of Christmas" blog post series and I'm here with a DIY gift!
With the holidays approaching faster than some of us would like, it's time to start thinking about holiday parties and gifts you will be giving! This gift is perfect for that person that loves cooking or for that friend that is hosting the party!
You will need:
- Course Sea Salt
- Fresh Herbs of your choice
• Basil
• Tarragon
• Rosemary
• Sage
• Oregano
• Thyme
Two options for a blended herb salt:
• Tuscan - oregano, basil, garlic
• Garden - parsley, chives, rosemary, thyme
- Air tight jars
- Label Stickers
- String and Gift Tag
- Wood Box
Directions:
Place 1/4 cup of course salt and 1/4 cup of your choice of herbs in a food processor and blend until it reaches your desired coarseness. You can keep it a little larger like a sea salt or blend it until its a very fine salt mixture.

I also did a version with some garlic salt and mixed it with the sea salt and some basil. The smell is amazing! I think this was my favorite combination.

Next, spread the salt mixture on a piece of parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake it at 175°F for 15 minutes - stirring occassionally. After 15 minutes, turn off the oven and let the herb salts sit in the over for another 30 minutes without opening the oven. This will give the herbs a chance to dry out completely.

After the additional 30 minutes, take the pan out of the oven and let cool. Pour them into your air tight containers and lable with a sticker and you're done! I placed mine in a cute wooden box I got from Hobby Lobby and tied it with red and white string and added a tag.

Let me know what herb combinations you come up with!
Happy Creating!
