DIY | Polaroid Coasters

I've got a super easy and cute DIY project for today's post! And a bonus, the materials are extremely cheap! What's better than that? I've created these Polaroid style coasters that are great as a gift or you can make them to match the decor of your house. I used four pictures from my trip to Italy that featured a few of my favorite places I saw when I was there.

The materials you will need are:

- 4"x4" white tiles (I got mine from Menards for only 9 cents each!)

- photos cropped to 3.75" (W) x 3.25" (H)

- fine tip Sharpie

- Mod Podge

- paint brush

- Clear Acrylic Spray (I used Mod Podge brand)

- Sheets of cork (I purchased mine in a pack of (4) 4"x4" squares from Michaels)

- Goop craft adhesive (or any other strong craft adhesive)

- X-acto knife

- ruler

First, I cropped all my photos on my computer and printed them all onto one sheet of paper. Then, using my X-acto knife and a ruler I trimmed all the photos out so they could be applied to the tiles.

Next, I wrote the locations of each photo onto the bottom section of each tile. I chose to add the hand written part to make it look like an older polaroid photo but they can definitely be left blank to just feature the photo.

Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to each coaster then carefully align each photo onto the tile leaving a larger space on the bottom for the Polaroid look. Once the photo is in place cover it completely with Mod Podge to seal the photo in. Once it was dried I added a couple more coats to seal it compeletly.

I let my coasters sit for 24 hours to make sure they were completely dry. Next, in a well ventilated area, spray the tiles with a clear acrylic spray. This will prevent any water from ruining the photos. I applied three coats.

Next, cut 1"x1" squares of cork to be adhered to each corner of each coasters.

Using the directions on the Goop craft adhesive, apply a cork square to each corner of every coaster. This will protect any surface you use your coaster on as well as prevent it from moving.

Once those are dried your coasters are done!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY project! It's a great way to showcase some of your favorite photos and is a lot of fun to make as well! If you make this craft post it on Instagram with #ExploringDesigner or tag me @juhkwee so I can check it out!

Happy Crafting!
